Here's the *actual* situation: Transmission slowly declining and at low levels, though not quite as low as some of the previous spring minimums due to a low winter surge that didn't efficiently clean up the susceptables. Weekly deaths are close to record lows, and may get there this spring.

This is the second factor that contributes to high premiums: if state minimums are way too low, and a lot of them are way too low, more claims get paid by PIP and UM/UIM coverage. It's hard for insurance companies to properly predict their potential exposure there.

This is the first factor that contributes to high premiums: medical care is fucking expensive and every state in the country has mandatory minimums that are entirely too low. Now, there's some nuance here state by state: some states have what's called "no-fault" insurance.

The combination of low wages + small minimums means that tiny, independent brands can say "hey make this weird robe coat or military parka that I think only level 100 menswear nerds will buy." The item ends up being unique enough to be interesting, but affordably priced to sell.

I, for one, don't think we should write laws which force new development to perpetuate car dependency and am happy this change has been made

I'm not sure if we'll get quite as low in transmission this spring as the minimums the last 2 years because of a very low winter peak not as efficiently cleaning up the susceptables. A bit of uncharted territory, since immunity is waning but we don't have strong variant growth.

I think that lots of these policies are so low-salience (maybe 5% of Americans know what parking minimums are), while the net outcome is so high salience (everyone complains about how expensive housing is) that the politicians really need to be focused on addressing that outcome

This was done so that multinationals couldn't base in Luxembourg with a low VAT rate but then they never added any income minimums to this shit forcing all small sellers to use large platforms due to compliance costs
