Lunulae come in all sorts of different widths - just saying. These two represent the very narrow and the very wide. Both from Ireland.

For #FindsFriday and 🚀Artemis2 returning from the moon 🌕, these beautiful golden Lunulae: moon crescent shaped neck ornaments. They were elite or religious objects dating to the late Neolithic/EBA signifying contacts along the Atlantic seaboard. On display @rmoudheden.bsky.social #BronzeAge exh.

It’s moved me to tears. Can’t bare it being the lunulae for some reason.

Today’s Featured Poet:

Doireann Ní Ghríofa (b. 1981) is author of 7 books of poetry, most recently Lunulae: New & Selected Poems in Translation. Her prose début A Ghost in the Throat finds an 18th century poet haunting a young mother, leading her through visions of blood, milk, lust, and murder.

We were all lamenting the Welsh losses, especially the lunulae which is a particularly unusual one.

I prefer the rose gold and gold one. It puts me in mind of the Irish lunulae

[15] Lunulae are a uniquely Gaelic jewellery form & are made of gold in a crescent moon shape. There are a group in the National Museum of Ireland. You can read about one of these 4,000y old collars in this fascinating article: irisharchaeology.ie/2013/02/stol...

I support the semi-colon. "We can thank Aldus Manutius for introducing the semicolon into Venice, in the 1490s. Where brackets, or lunulae, remind us of the moon, simply using a semicolon in a sentence links us to gondolas, to the Bridge of Sighs; to sunlight shining on the waters of the canals."

Oooh - missing lunulae on the ring finger is linked to thyroid or adrenal fatigue. Essentially “running low on reserves.”

As Ireland prepares for a partial solar eclipse, look back over 4,000 years to Bronze Age Ireland.

Mary Cahill explores whether gold discs, lunulae and pottery decoration reflect prehistoric observations of the sun in Archaeology Ireland (Spring 2015).

I spent months piecing
this jigsaw together at last, and I saw
how the arch of your foot fit the hollow
of my palm, how your head nestled
into the curve of my neck. I knew it: we fit.

Einer meiner Lichtblicke in diesem beinahe endlosen Januar: ich habe einige ziemlich gute Bücher gelesen, und war dabei in meiner Auswahl zum ersten Mal seit Langem komplett frei.

There are lunulae if I read that correctly. That's a clear epipaleo lead … 😉
