More info on lymphatic microsurgery: “Sutures used during microsurgery are extremely fine—much thinner than the thickness of most human hair… lymphatics are much more delicate & technically challenging than the vessels & nerves we handle in non-lymphatic surgery."

Just imagining showing this current photo of me to myself 2 years ago (before #cancer). I'd have no idea what happened to my hair OR my arm. (I'll always love #kentuckywildcats tho!)

I got the new Covid shot this afternoon, so yay. Hoping I don't have too bad a reaction because I've got my first lymphedema therapy appointment tomorrow. Radiation starts next week.

Lymphedema is different than the venous insufficiency it’s did he has . Lymphedema can leak if skin breaks.

Today is apparently World Lymphedema Day. I have lymphedema, and was born with it. It means my legs swell up and I have to wear medical compression all the time. It isn't fat (so before i was diagnosed that was fun..), and it is incurable. But, it is manageable. Wear your compression, people.

A lot of what many very skilled medical practitioners will tell you is radiation damage is actually lymphedema and can be treated by an OT/PT trained to do lymphatic drainage massage. And maintained at home by you, once you know how to do it.
