Latest project: Lace shawl. Based on a purchased pattern ('Shukrani') adapted for machine knitting. In Lang Alpaca Soxx, which is the softest sock yarn I've worked with. There are more mistakes than I want to count, but overall, there's mostly good.

It's 50-50 alpaca-silk, thin and drape-y and so very soft.

I've been learning my new-to-me knitting machine, partially by working through the Brother "Home Study" manual. There's a pattern in there for TV slippers, and I thought that would be a good practice project for me.
I didn't know evolution was part of the learning.

Something exciting (the good kind!) has happened: I have got a vintage knitting machine! A brother KH-830, to be precise. I’ve been obsessing over it all weekend, and even managed to make something small and wearable.

Siiiiigh. I was wondering why the neckline was so wide. I then realized that I put ALL of the neckline stitches on hold, instead of the center 3rd. Putting it down for the night. I'll deal with it tomorrow.

Practice run for a sweater! And holy cow, it looks like a sweater! Done entirely on a standard guage MK. The front yoke had about 5-6 do-overs but once I understood what was happening, the rest went a bit faster.

Took a flatbed knitting machine class at Friends & Fiberworks, in Candler, NC. Made this colorwork cowl in about 20 minutes. Used @universalyarns and @berrocoyarns. Great shop and great teacher!
