A lot of the macrotrends in US politics (and abroad fwiw) are closely tied to this phenomenon where people who are less educated and, frankly, less intelligent are gravitating on average towards right of center parties and their media machines.

This innocuous graph shows life expectancy from 1950 to now. The only time it has EVER dropped is from 2016 to 2020. You might say it was covid... nope. It was the orange turd's handling of COVID, notice how it started going up again AFTER 2020...

I can't believe I'm in a position to defend corporate margins, much less Kroger which is obviously deeply evil, but even their currently conspicuously high margins are less than 2%.
You can't tell them to eat 25% tariffs with major trading partners.

I can't believe I'm in a position to defend corporate margins, much less Kroger which is obviously deeply evil, but even their currently conspicuously high margins are less than 2%.
