The Gatsby from Cafe Blanco in Makhanda (nee Grahamstown) in South Africa was definitely pervert food. Massive sub roll stuffed with fries, ketchup, token lettuce and literally whatever lunch meats and bacons they had on hand. Each one was a challenge from the kitchen and I loved them.
i still think about the banh mi with cold cuts, pate, and extra mayo i used to get from a vendor when i was reporting on the khmer rouge war tribunal in phnom penh - i think one gave me food poisoning once and i'd still slam one of those sammiches right now
