#mandates
THIS IS THE CLEAREST OF MANDATES
November 4, 2026 at 12:23 PM
If last night wasn't a mandate, mandates don't exist.

Bad luck for them if they can't get that <1% margin of victory that creates permanent mandates for conservatives.
November 3, 2026 at 2:31 PM
They have voter mandates behind them and it’s glorious to see

I'm glad i preregistered my mandates take, because I want to keep myself honest about what mandates can and can't do. and we're already seeing the naysayers. No getting mired in that nonsense. The power has shifted.

Gonna be crazy when hinojosa mandates that all trillionaires in the state get transed

really seems like the working definition a lot of political journalists have for "a mandate" is an election where voters say "we actually love the party we're voting for and want to marry it." in which case, there are maybe 4 such mandates, tops, in american history

As a lesbian, I don’t like “mandates”

This speaks to @juliaazari.bsky.social's point re mandates: don't bother talking about mandates. Just honor the rule of law and the demands of democracy.
We are certain to hear "yes people voted against the Republicans but they did not vote for Democrats." This, my friends, simply isn't true. Some data.

First, more people are self-IDing as Dems today than they have in a long time. People have moved from the Rs and towards us. 1/

LMAOOOO "hey guys mandates are only for republicans don't you even DARE try to improve people's lives if you win"
There's a difference between a blowout and a mandate. Confusing the two could tempt Democrats to overread the results and forget the serious credibility problem they still face heading into 2028.
Democrats could learn wrong message from a blowout victory
A big Election Night could mask the party's larger image problem.

apparently only republicans have mandates

Good morning university presidents, time to pivot from handsomely funded viewpoint diversity centers to unfunded DEI mandates

A lot of my former employers moved to Dallas suburbs for insane tax breaks, Republicans mostly cut them slack on actually hitting job mandates for said tax breaks. The party the chamber has opposed for 30 years might not be so willing.

"Mandates" only happen when Republicans win.

In his kooky new OpEd, Ioannidis says science communicators who supported mask mandates during the pandemic were equivalent to tobacco companies 🤯

Statewide mask mandates saved an estimated 87,000 lives in 2020 (pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC...)

Tobacco kills >7 million people /yr

So similar!
It’s sad to see what happened to Ioannidis: his new piece argues the greatest threat to US science is science journalists & journals (BMJ, Lancet etc)🤯
He peddled horrific conspiracies during Covid (eg, claiming doctors were killing patients by intubating them)! Read this by @gorskon.bsky.social 👇
"John Ioannidis recently characterized journalists invoking falsely (in his view) “science-based” views as a threat to science. What is the real threat to science in the US? (Hint: It’s not that.) Here’s a reality check."

And Mandates as “not Mandates”
November 4, 2026 at 6:46 PM
no matter the outcome the lesson is always need to be more right wing.

Republicans would prefer if mandates don't exist, that's why they are trying to undo gay marriage.
November 4, 2026 at 3:16 PM
mandates are what republicans get

i 100% agree all this output should be blatantly watermarked and have legal disclosure mandates. any weakning of that should have to come with reasonable legal & economic protections for everyone
I feel like whatever your position in AI is, everyone should be able to agree that nobody should get an automated message, LLM-generated email, or interaction with a chatbot that isn't clearly marked as such? That seems like such an obvious baseline of just like, treating people with respect.

Mandates mean not listening to Carville or anyone else preaching bipartisanship or moderate positions.
