Why am I telling you this? Because many people with Marfans don’t know they have it until they experience a medical emergency. Marfans patients are at a high risk of life-threatening emergencies, including spontaneous lung collapse and aortic dissection.

I'm an egg donor baby! my mom had marfans syndrome and didn't want to pass it down to me and my sister, so my parents got an egg donor. I don't have any genes from my mom or her side of the family, instead I just get all my problems from my dad lmfao

I'm pleased the BBC are drawing attention to hypermobility, but I do wish they'd mention Marfans in the same breath as EDS. All these symptoms could indicate Marfans - diagnosis saves lives. So many people have no idea they've got until there's an emergency.

Marfan Syndrome is a genetic condition - you can’t catch it, and you can’t ‘cure’ it. A parent with Marfans has a 50/50 chance of passing the condition down to their child, but Marfans can also spontaneously occur in some individuals.

Patients with a history of Marfans or other connective tissue disease are at a high risk, as are people with bicuspid aortic valves. SARS2 is known to cause endothelial inflammation and is a likely risk factor, and I've seen a case that developed during the acute phase of the infection.

Turns out my friend has Marfans Syndrome. She is currently fighting for her life. She is strong and beautiful and a reminder that we never know what health issues someone else is struggling with. I would remind those who are body-shaming Ariana Grande to also remember this.

Just be careful of prolactin levels, and if you have a connective tissue disorder (hypermobility, eds, marfans), do not take prog. You may notice some joint pain as it can lower cells absorption and utilisation estrogen
