FT is the most expensive non trade publication by a wide margin, was and is (less so now) super easy to bypass their paywall by navigating to articles thru google, and has by far best signal to noise ratio of any outlet

The larger-margin non-games businesses are I suspect used to over-spending by nature of either hiring a larger ratio of unqualified people, either wasting them to layers of management. As a result, higher-ups can't perceive the ratio of highly-talented people that must constitute a team like id.

FYI: "Medical Loss Ratio" (MLR) refers to an ACA rule limiting insurance carriers to no more than a 15-20% gross margin: They have to spend at least 80-85% of premiums on actual healthcare claims. Anything over that has to be rebated to policyholders, and they've rebated over $12 billion to date. 1/

Add leverage into the mix, which imposes margin calls & stops on a volatile asset class. To strip out jargon a bit, as the value of your asset falls you are required to increase amount of collateral you pledge against your borrowing to keep the ratio of debt/collateral value within a pre-set bound.

One cool thing you can/should do is sample from priors only, and plot the distribution of the actual quantity of interest (ex: risk ratio). I find this very useful. This is actually super easy with brms. arelbundock.com/posts/margin...
