You cannot stop thinking when an identity is presented to you as an argument.
You have to actually engage with the argument on its own terms.
Someone's marginality makes their perspective rarer and often neglected.
It doesn't make it true by default, or even *progressive* by default.

the flip side of this coin is that conspiracy crank culture, which used to be aesthetically/formally fascinating b/c of its marginality, is increasingly being drained of its interesting outsider vitality by the dull rich techies who have tried to adopt it

it's projection! it's always just projection. if someone's sense of their own marginality mostly extends as far as who they're allowed to bully, they'll assume everyone thinks that way lol

The way to prevent the exploitation of workers in the porn industry is very clearly to give those workers more rights and more power over their employers, and, where that exploitation is facilitated by their marginality, to demarginalise them across society in general

suicidality is a consequence of capitalism and white supremacy. our friends that committed suicide were murdered by these patriarchial systems that create environments for abuse, marginality, and exploitation. The best suicide prevention would be destroying fascism.

Regular reminder that we basically just make up what gets designated 'lower' and 'higher' order terms in regression models.
This paper isn't constructive but is fun. Don't rely on the marginality principle!

What would I like to see? A strategic effort by academics in American Studies and so-called "Western civ" to submit an overwhelming number of applications to NEH that focus on issues related to race, ethnicity, marginality, sexuality, and everything else deemed "DEI" that are IN these exact fields.
