Competition is the solution to this, except, whoops, decades of antitrust policy ignored market power and allowed intense concentration of many markets. A handful of firms can easily collude without any explicit coordination
among the lessons to learn about this election is it once again demonstrated that corporations can basically pick the president by simply raising prices during administrations they don't like

Another source of confusion in the quoted statement is the idea there either exists a market economy, or a command economy. All modern societies include both coordination by markets and coordination through conscious planning and central authorities.
I invite liberals everywhere to retire this antiquated definition of socialism. Liberalism & socialism have plural & overlapping origins. Socialism needn't mean anti-market, though many socialisms are. At minimum socialism means a strong value of economic equality and robustly empowered workers.

Data centres, solar farms, houses. The market can't meet our needs and take other factors into account. Nationalise the lot and plan it properly.
