Just a reminder as I keep posting: that video was from last fall, and the FL legislature didn't have the votes to make it true.

I mean, would this be the @nytimes.com coverage if a Democratic politician had told people to pledge allegiance to them personally and said they had to commit election fraud to seem the Democrats win in the fall?

No, we're not renaming the Streisand Effect in response to [insert person or org who didn't realize their attempt to hide stuff would get it that much more attention].

It is astounding to me that these jackasses can't think two steps ahead. Easiest win in the world to say "we love NYC, we're happy to pay the tax to support the city."

You'll still keep getting richer in absolute terms. And the public puts down at least some of the pitchforks they've got
The city’s wealthy property owners say they are sick of being vilified.

Did you hear the story of the one man $1.8 billion business built by AI as portrayed in the @nytimes.com? Turns out basically every aspect of that story is bullshit and the story should be retracted.
The New York Times Got Played By A Telehealth Scam And Called It The Future Of AI

Since the New York Times published its semi-viral big profile of Medvi last week — the "AI-powered" telehealth startup that it breathlessly described as a "$1.8 billion company" supposedly run by just two brothers —…

Not the key part of this story, obviously... but they *sold* his phone? WTF?
This is 10th-grader Arnoldo Bazan.

A citizen.

Immigration agents grabbed him and put him in a chokehold.

"We're from the United States bro!' he screamed.

Agents took and sold his phone

And when he finally got home hours later, his shirt was ripped, he neck had angry, red welts, and he sobbed.

Um. It was just months ago the DOJ claimed "become ungovernable" was an antifa slogan worthy of conspiracy charges.

And for at least a bit of real world data, Bluesky continues to be the largest single source of traffic (after search) to @techdirt.com. I don't think Threads has ever shown up in any list of referrers. Ever.
Two possibilities:

—Threads is becoming the dominant text-based social media app even though nobody you’ve ever met has ever used Threads

—Meta is doing some funky math and just counting people who use their Instagram accounts as active Threads users

Phew, I knew that eventually I'd just be able to point at Mike pointing out all the problems bsky.app/profile/masn...
In case you wanted about 3,700 words on the problems with today's "settlement" that gives Meta way more power over how the internet works than it should have.
Meta Just Paid Nearly $17 Billion To Make Sure It Gets To Write The Kid Safety Rules For Every Other Social Media Platform

This reminds me of a story that I'm sure I've told on social media before, though I don't recall where. Possibly even here. Possibly Twitter. Who knows? Who cares? I'm telling it again.

It's the story of how I saw the Expos mascot, Youpi, punch a little kid and send him flying down a set of stairs
Where we (dumb-ass teenagers) immediately started cheering for the team everyone else on our side of the seating hated.

Our canadian chaperones had to step in and defuse the situation.

Still, a very fun experience :D.

Obviously Republicans think free speech is when they can say what they want and when you can say what they want, but I think this is genuinely just a pathetic attempt at intimidating liptak bsky.app/profile/masn...
I expected it to be bad from the description but it's so much worse. I really do wonder what they put in the water for professors at Harvard Law
This article (proposing professional sanctions for lawyer-journalists who publish leaked SCOTUS material) is genuinely one of the stupidest things I’ve read in my entire adult life reason.com/volokh/2026/...

Big news this morning:

The long Nationals nightmare is over. The Nats and Orioles have resolved the MASN dispute, MLB announced. Nats get their TV rights back for next season. It’s over. Seriously.

Félix Bautista and Adley Rutschman were pumped after this one. Baltimore needed a win, and they got it.
