Kartal'da 20 Mart 2024'te Nuriye Dilmaç'tan haber alınaması üzerine kız kardeşi ve babası kayıp başvurusunda bulundu. Dilmaç'ın kaybıyla ilgili Anadolu Cumhuriyet Başsavcılığınca soruşturma başlatıldı. Soruşturma kapsamında Dilmaç'ın boşandığı D.D, çocukları E.D. ile boşandığı erkeğin kardeşleri E.D, Z.D. ve C.D. şüpheli olarak dosyaya eklendi.
Nuriye Dilmaç'ın oğlu E.D'nin verdiği ifadede annesini, babası D.D'nin boğarak öldürdüğü ve Şile'deki hafriyat döküm alanına çuval içerisinde gömdüklerini söylemesi üzerine şüpheli E.D'ye olay yerinde yer gösterme işlemi yaptırıldı. Nuriye Dilmaç'ın cansız bedenini bulmak için alana kadavra köpekleri getirildi. Soruşturma kapsamında dosyaya eklenen ve gözaltına alınan şüpheli sayısı 8'e yükseldi.
Emniyetteki işlemleri tamamlanan şüpheliler adliyeye götürüldü. Savcılıkça ifadesi alınan şüphelilerden 6'sı tutuklama istemiyle 2'si ise adli kontrol talebiyle nöbetçi sulh ceza hakimliğine sevk edildi.
Nuriye Dilmaç'ın boşandığı erkek D.D'nin de aralarında bulunduğu 5'şüpheliyi 'kasten öldürme' suçundan tutuklanarak ceza infaz kurumuna gönderildi. 3 şüpheli de adli kontrolle serbest bırakıldı. Nuriye Dilmaç'ın cansız bedenini bulmak için Şile'de arama çalışması başlatıldı.
