I was assistant manager of MathSoc C&D in the early 1980s and Food Services was relentless in their effort to get it shut down.

Wow. Amazing story. If the same blizzard, I remember slogging in through snowdrifts from Beechwood (much shorter slog than your odyssey) purely for the fun of it. IIRC MathSoc C&D had beaucoup unsold doughnaughts — free, all you could eat.

Surely the oldest person at Rocky Horror tonight at The Princess. It’s been 45+ years since that first showing that I tagged along with the MathSoc crew.
Exciting, illicit, and transgressive then, now? Well, quite lovely to see it again with this new generation.

Hey @waterloomath.bsky.social in the “Drive of 85” we (CSC and MathSoc kids) ran WATBALL’85 — bought a couple dozen of then inexpensive bleachers seats, rented a bus, and Oct 4 we saw the Jays fall to the Yankees 4-3 — “Lloyd Moseby dropped the ball”.
They won the division the next day. Good times.

I remember one of my first chats with Eamonn, in the old Mathsoc rooms in house 39, was about Out of Time and "Shiny Happy People" in particular. Great days, etc.

Tks 4 like. This Michigal has good memories of visits 2 friend when she studied #CS @ UW 40+ yrs ago. “10 guys 4 every girl!” she crowed on the phone. Dated MathSoc guy who wound up teaching there. Still wear UW sweatshirt sometimes. Photo circa March ‘79-‘80 in a UW dorm. Know one guy’s full name.
