MDiv still being considered a professional degree… tells you all you need to know about the politics of this decision

I'm a chaplain with an mdiv working im healthcare. I make what should be a solid middle class income. If it weren't for my partner being in a field where she makes significantly more than me, I wouldn't be able to live in the mid-size city we're in.

I was once made a co-editor of a theology journal at one point, but believe it or not, have not actually gotten a MDiv. Was mostly a lay theologian.
Believe you were published for theology, or did I make that up in my head?

I've said it before and I'll say it again -- I'm not pledging (and certainly not TITHING) to pay someone's MDiv student loans so they can tell me what ChatGPT said. I can do that myself for free.

It’s hard to know how to talk about this stuff, but the gap between the Bible training you get in a top MDiv program and what you’d need for general mastery of the field is considerably wider than the gap between what you might have as a lay-trained pastor and an MDiv graduate.

Since we’re talking about preaching, one of the best pieces of feedback I got was from a music minister who’d done a mdiv at Harvard and is resolutely called to lay ministry.
