To be fair: Lariam/mefloquine shows that we need to be careful about forcing meds on our soldiers.
That being said: The flu vax is no mefloquine. It is demonstrably safe. And the flu is highly contagious in close quarters.

I never thought we'd reach the stage of having to explain that sick soldiers don't fight anywhere near as effectively as soldiers who aren't sick which means that if your soldiers are sick you're much more likely to lose the fight, but here we are.

Clinicians should recognize symptoms of mefloquine poisoning mimic those of PTSD-screening for history of symptomatic mefloquine exposure & taking a detailed history if present can disentangle causes of chronic symptoms.
