Kazoo also likes to bite me to get my attention.

Guess who’s getting MEGATOOTH dedicated to her.
Kazoo says it’s not fair for me to be this tall.

I love that a day at the beach looking for Miocene shark teeth counts as research.

MEGATOOTH coming winter 27/28 🦈
So we’ve got

Carcharhinus
Isurus
Hemipristis serra
A couple croc teeth
and, of course
Carcharodon hastalis

Not bad for a day at the beach. 🦈

I love how I just started writing MEGATOOTH and already people are asking me when they can read it.

Finish your T. rex. Then you can have some big shark.

The book I'm working on now is called MEGATOOTH, so expect more sharkposting.

I’ve written over a dozen books. Each one feels a little different.

MEGATOOTH is so much fun I keep showing Splash snippets as I write them. 🦈

Did you know

I’m just starting to write a big shark book right now, Megatooth.

Her name’s Fin. She’s hungry.

Had enough therapy to pause while writing MEGATOOTH and ask myself “Where do I feel the shark in my body?”

I hope people are still horny for thalassophobia by time MEGATOOTH comes out.

Some of the studies I made of the extinct megatooth shark Otodus megalodon, for an upcoming commission I can hopefully share soon. Megalodon is known almost exclusively from fossil teeth, which have not been found articulated with jaws.

Work on Megatooth starts in earnest this week. Of course I’ll thread it with science and natural history, but the best part? I get to be the shark.

You’ll love it, chum. 🦈

My megalodon study

1. Megatooth shark stalking small balaenas.

2. Megalodon near yellowfin tuna, about 5 million years ago during the late Miocene.

I love that acquaintances who know I’m writing MEGATOOTH are already asking how it’s shaping up and when they can read it. I’m just 12k words in.

I’m working quick as I can, but, just as the shark did, I’m trying to consistently cruise rather than sprint. 🦈

Tyrant Lizard Queen is my third narrative book, MEGATOOTH will be the fourth, but they feel so different from the previous two.

I think because they both are centered on a core individual, an animal I’m not just learning about but getting to know. Personality. “Would Fin really do that? Hm.”
