#memorialization
Memorialization keeps the account around forever, stuck in amber, ready for any future policy changes. Deleting the account allows you to remove their footprint, but only really works if you can export their data first. Which requires their passwords etc.

This approach of ritualistic journeying aligns with the views of memorialization expert Kenneth J Doka who notes that “Grief does not cease with the last funeral or the centering public ritual. Just as grief continues, effective rituals should continue as well, marking cycles and events.” 3/9

The original title of Frieren, Sōsō no Furīren (Frieren at the Funeral) extends an important invitation to readers to perceive the role that ritual plays in the unfolding story, and the extent that Frieren’s journey (the subject of the series) is a ritualistic act of memorialization. #frieren 1/9

Dr. George Keyworth held the first of the 7 Nights of History talks: “Unsung Heroes: Reinventing Kusunoki no Masashige (1294-1336).” He discussed the politics of memorialization and the reimagined legacy of Masashige as part of the invention of the Japanese imperial line by the Meiji Emperor.

Will we honor Trump's pending pardons? For that matter, will we honor him in death?
On both counts, IMO, no.
Resurrecting & invigorating rule of law requires prosecuting those criminally in cahoots with this unabashedly corrupt & murderous regime. On memorialization, see 'corrupt & murderous.'

Yeah, the thing I said that got the poster to block me was that one shouldn't compare German and Dutch memory cultures.

Memorialization of the Roma here is terrible, and Zentralrat President Paul Siegel opposed the concrete column memorial explicitly on the grounds that it didn't include the Roma.

Some posts get quoted, screenshot, and filed for possible memorialization in embroidery or cross stitch.
Humanities will get you through times of no money better than money will get you through times of no humanities.

The shift in cadence and tone is important here:

(soft, exclamatory) Fuck!

[Three full beats of silence]

(Frenetic, tumbling, paced and emphasized as written) Alas!poorYorick!IKNEWhim,Horatio!

And the ensuing memorialization crumbles as it builds.
Ok don’t let’s get carried away but I found something genuinely good on Threads.

When people in Germany object to the Stolpersteine memorial project and say they want an alternative, it's usually a bad faith way of objecting to any form of memorialization. In Erfurt, however, they did attempt an alternative with mixed results. historyned.blog/2018/11/09/t...

In the midst of the CDU campaign to say the Linke outside the bounds of democracy due to antisemitism, it was a strategic error for members of the CDU to make the international news by working with the far right to ban the memorialization of victims of Nazism in Heidenau. bsky.app/profile/cnn....

There has been outrage after a small town in eastern Germany banned the installation of new Holocaust memorial plaques that mark the last known residence or workplace of Jews and other victims of Nazi persecution. https://cnn.it/4rvLl0O

Good morning butterflies! Would you write a poem about your MP? A few mediaeval MPs could turn a rhyme - Geoffrey Chaucer MP springs to mind - but one or two inspired poetry.

List of glee things that should get more attention in its memorialization:

1. Santana’s alter ego Snixx
2. Britney being a math prodigy
3. Sue asking the TEEN glee kids for their sperm donation for her own conception
4. Emma’s parents being “ginger supremacists”

With Spanish fascists about to hand him over to French nazi collaborators, Walter Benjamin took his own life on 26 Sept 1940. I'd only had the vaguest idea of the circumstances of his death and memorialization when I took the kids to Portbou for a fun beach day in 2014. greg.org/archive/2014...

The lack of surviving records creates unique challenges for our colleagues producing biographies of late-medieval MPs.

Dr Simon Payling explores how poetic memorializations of two MPs help paint a more rounded, if overly positive picture of their characters.

Absolutely insulting post from them after so many amazing creators have offered so many amazing worlds/assets/models. I'll never forget them memorializing 1001 and how this featuring of slop is a kick in the face to that memorialization.

I hope and believe that it's like David Vitter skipping a war dead memorialization vote to go see hookers: it's not just cartoonishly immoral, it's evocative. it's a lurid story of moral rot contained in one sentence, not just a gross fact about a senator.

Yes. RFK was on Joseph McCarthy’s staff. Cohn was McCarthy’s chief counsel. RFK clashed with Cohn & quit McCarthy. Cohn developed a fierce enmity w/Bobby that oozed into JFK & the family. Cohn was tRump’s beloved mentor. His actions against the JFK memorialization are revenge for Cohn.

Ditto transmission! Like I said, there are still other charges that this guy is up on, and simple possession is the one that carries the lowest penalties. It just has to do with the fact that generated CSAM, ie not the memorialization of an act of child abuse against a specific child--
