The myth of meriticracy is that you deserve your circumstances. This logic leads to thinking that if you're poor or disabled then you must have done something to deserve it. Keep following that logic and you must be an abhorrent person if you're poor or disabled.

Out of all the careers in our non-meriticracy populated almost exclusively by people from well of backgrounds that's the one where you'd think they'd maybe consider letting a broader range of people have a go.

The target at universities is DEI, because Republicans have convinced (racist) Americans that it is a threat to the "American Meriticracy." In reality the great threat to meritocracy is INHERITED WEALTH. What could be more meritless than tax free wealth that you did absolutely nothing to create?

They'd stil be neccessary since the country has a hstory of racism and bigotry that has caused many people to start not at "go" but several steps back from that. A meriticracy can only function in a coutnry where everyone starts from the same point - so family wealth, skin color, sexual orientation
