Just finished Pony Island. Recommended!

A cute, fourth-wall-breaking metafictional adventure.

oh thats very kind of you. ours is not nice 😅😂 from a totally different format and genre. we wanna criticize the literary self-insert that we see in romance, and address it by putting her in a situation where her other characters gain metafictional awareness, and foil her narrative plans

Altair and Decentralized Autonomy: The Negentropic Multiplicity

In his analysis of Re:CREATORS, Kuroda highlights Altair (The Military Uniform Princess) as a unique metafictional anomaly.

Frankly, not just books, but ... IMO it's important on a METAFICTIONAL level , when discussing, in a lit-crit way, how Astarion's trauma story is portrayed? You need to look at the *very similar beats* in how two characters he obviously homages, Zevran and Fenris, of the Dragon Age games are written

"oh now I've REALLY gotten into something I shouldn't have". Nashi gets more avant-garde in what they write and doesn't only experiment with the metafictional angle, but with the general rulebook of JP mockumentary as a whole. Cursed Thing puts a very interesting spin on the cursed story trope,

Core Themes: The lectures examine the metafictional and philosophical mechanics of Re:CREATORS, particularly exploring concepts like the "power of creation," creator-creation dynamics, and what Kuroda terms "antifantasy" structures. [1, 2, 3]

71/50

I watched DEAD MEDIA which was released just in time for Halloween. It's a delightful metafictional horror film and a love letter to films from the nineties and their accompanying DVD bonus features. A treasure of a film.

How Antifantasy Fights Back

Rather than retreating into traditional, nostalgic fairy tales, antifantasy cosmology weaponizes alternative media, subcultures, and self-reflexive (metafictional) narratives.

For example, a student analyzing the metafictional layers of Peter S. Beagle’s The Last Unicorn would be prompted to map its themes of mortality onto the Japanese concept of mono no aware (the ephemerality of things).

He even won a Pulitzer Prize for this play because it was so poignant. I mean, I really stan this whole piece. And him as an author.

You might be thinking, I don’t want to read a sci fi noir Homeric hymn! I want to read a work of metafictional sci fi Marxist literary criticism in alliterative verse. And I get that! So instead, read “Disputation on the Knife of Scarlet and Scaffold”

Waugh describes the metafictional ilinx (thought she spells it "illinx" for some reason) as the "momentary destruction of reality" brought about by an adequately disorienting novel which enables the confusion of reality and unreality

A Talent for Murder is a decent mystery thriller held back by an unwieldy metafictional conceit.

sorry meteor i just like the thematics of the 1.0 wol being a woman too in my femwol canons, and i like the metafictional aspect of a design that never appeared in any trailer or as a character being the woman the world forgot (cylva being the other design left out of meteor's party)

when she becomes the madwoman in the attic - thus mixing the metaphors. But in the end it was all just written by Edith anyway, making for a superb metafictional break.

Now this here Digger fella….you expect me to believe he’s some kind of a, metafictional construct?

I think it might resonate better with today's audience, since it's metafictional and a satire on the myths of the American West.

i tried a round of Slay the Princess today. it is a cute game and i think the art is great, writing isn't bad but the twee metafictional angle can get a bit tiresome and i feel like there's a lot it does that it could've pulled off way better. that being said i had fun and i like the Princess.

I will forever be mad at myself for losing my source files for my rpg maker magnum opus, "RPG Camp", a game that was supposed to have a facade of "how to play RPGs" but secretly was going to be all metafictional (it was comprised 99% of attack animations bc that's all I wanted to make)

Okay…lets go there…

I have a fan theory based on a rarely realized fact in Ghostbusters.

We have never actually seen the REAL events of the original Ghostbusters. The actual fight with Gozer has never been depicted.

So, settle in, cause we are getting metafictional.
