I read a lot of Taxi 2000 reports from the U of MN back in the day, and even then they said pods were appropriate for intra-city use only, really just like 5 mile radius service. Intercity corridors (and even metrowide transit) need dedicated right-of-way trains.

It depends. The HCV FMR is metrowide so too high or too low for a lot of n-hoods. But PHAs can now set Payment Standards by zipcode. In distressed n-hood the HCV Payment Standard for a unit that can pass inspection could be higher than LLs are getting for crappier units in n-hood.

PDX’s and Vancouver’s city proper population is almost equal. Metrowide, 2.2M v. 3M. We’re very similarly sized cities!

You’re right: it does come down to land use. But Vancouver wouldn’t have the superior landuse it does have without SkyTrain. SkyTrain build that region, the MAX barely created TOD

Seems these may be stadium-centric measurements? I assume we are last if general, metrowide transit is considered.

Going to the mall during a metrowide norovirus outbreak was iffy, but we purchased our needed wares and diligently handwashed halfway through 🤞

O&A are absolutely rancid, but, in the spirits of a “controlled burn”, I would submit that them and Don Imus didn’t do as much damage as *gestures web-ward*. Also, to the original point: there used to we distinct regional terroirs of stupid shit, a hundred metrowide goofballs.

The tricky part is these are the newest developments, so they're furthest from the metro center with a big ring of disconnected suburbia in between. Works great for turning leisure trips into walks instead of drives to the nearest stroad, but it'll be real tough to retrofit into a metrowide network.

Re: 5. -- Yes! I am beyond tired of reporters, data people, and urbanists, and basically everyone focusing on the commute mode share estimates. As you said, it doesn't really say anything about how important biking is in Mpls! Met Council should do a new bike/ped metrowide survey to get better data

2. This shows searches metrowide, so this would also include those outside of Minneapolis (there is a city breakdown, see below). 3. While this at times has corresponded to votes (it did for Frey in 2017), it's also possible folks research and then don't vote for the subject of the search.

26 miles per week is a lot! I don't know what Denver's average mileage is per person, but that's pretty close to the number in the Twin Cities metrowide. Near zeroing out of someone's VMT is big.

Rescuers hold metrowide disaster drill amid real storm
MANILA, Philippines — Over 70 rescue teams from across the country braved the storm on Saturday in what turned out to be an on the job training rather than a drill. As Tropical Storm "Crising" and the southwest monsoon dumped rain in Metro Manila, the participants held the Rescue March Challenge — a grueling simulation and endurance event that began at the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) command post in Pasig City, continued through C5–Katipunan, and concluded at the University of the Philippines Diliman, replicating real-life response routes in large-scale disaster scenarios.

can you control for census tracts within for example 1 mile radius of downtowns? that's the core of my database and then everything else is somewhat ancillary citywide, metrowide, etc tp give some additional context since most political boundaries are arbitrary.

I have a short list of ones that haven't that includes the Minnesota Vikings, USBank, and some medical device companies you've never heard the name of.

It's a lot longer if I add all the book stores. A lot of metrowide dots with the book stores, with quite a few outside of the region, too.
