Nice to see Old Man's War holding its own on this master list of MilSF novels. Also nice to see my pals @markokloos.bsky.social, @emoontxwriter.bsky.social, @deuceofgearsmusic.bsky.social and other contemporary authors (like Pierce Brown and Dan Abnett) on it too -

- goblin
- mech
- althist
- smut
- milSF
- writer

one of my first moments of real critical reading was asking "why do all these milsf books I like have politicians who exist only to look like idiots for believing in the possibility of diplomacy"

MILSF (Moms I Love to See Fighting)

🗡️💙💚🪓

Old-ish piece for a friend who wanted to see Sonic and Surge’s moms in a cloth-shredding duel.

It'd be ridiculous for me to bully someone for the genre of fiction they consume, considering I read brainmelted MilSF and smutfics.

BUT.

Having some teeth to your Coffeehouse AU won't kill you.

my primary interests are milsf and talking animal stories tbh

And a lot of SF, particularly on the milSF end, really is just “Wouldn’t it be cool?”

MILSF - Man, I Love Star Fox

Maybe the best work of milSF of the last decade tbh
isabel fall was right, btw:

“And the moment [queer activists’] work reached a usable stage—the moment
society was ready to accept plastic gender, and scientists were ready
to manipulate it—the military found a new resource…the military can make gender tactical.”
Judge orders Hegseth to explain US military’s new testosterone policy
Court questions plan to offer male hormone treatment to cisgender troops while denying it to trans service members

Milsf is just an anogram of milf's.

Gonna ponder that orb for a bit.
December 29, 2024 at 12:08 PM
Yes, that is true. Unfortunately there are a lot of very loud mouths who completely missed the point, and think it's milSF.

Anyone writing MilSF:

As fragile as the life supporting infrastructure around the Persian Gulf is, it's orders of magnitude more durable than *any* off-Earth habitation would be.
“Damage to a single large desalination plant, including a plant shutdown, could have immediate and widespread effects on the region, said Menachem Elimelech, an environmental engineer at Rice University.

The Al Dur plant in Bahrain, for example, supplies over one million people with water each day”
How the War in Iran Is Raising Concern About Water in the Middle East
Millions of people in the Persian Gulf depend on desalination plants for their water, but recent fighting has highlighted the system's vulnerability.

You are enjoying your mechsploitation favs, enjoying the mix of fetish play and milSF worldbuilding when suddenly, massive ships riding fusion candles arrive. Mechs in green and yellow livery slam down on jumpjets, and your comnet is alive with this guy screaming at you.

"BATCHALL!"

Real ones know you know your only getting proper milSF slop if the generic white guy on the cover is holding a laser rifle and the synopsis describes a story where he is very unlikely to be holding a gun himself, let alone using it in anger.

Battlestar Galactica 2004 is a hell of a show. great milsf, interpersonal drama, bizarre and surreal spirituality. hot androids.

Sometimes the appeal of my posts, or the coherent offering to an audience, confuses me outside of literally me. You wouldn't go to McDonalds and expect to buy furniture, why is there an account that hornyposts and milSF posts with like zero delineation between the two.

Oh, hey, do you like reading MilSF but loathe that so many hold radically authoritarian or libertarian views? Try Marko Kloos's series Frontlines.

CW: they do have all the usual MilSF political tropes!!!! It's that the *author* is not a neo-fascist.
May 15, 2024 at 4:00 PM
Fun watching Star Trek veer toward milSF hoo-rah hard-men-hard-chocies crap at the exact time no one likes that stuff or cares about it, not even the treat-motivated fascists we have now. They should've pitched Section 31 between 9/11 and when Bush lost New Orleans to snakes and rising water.

@sabrinatvband.bsky.social interviews @leaf-tilde.itch.io, one of the best transfem eroticists around. They talk about trans fiction tropes, succubi, milSF, and much more.

The Leaf Tilde Interview
Leaf~, also known as Leaf Tilde, is one of the best transfem authors around. I’d even consider her to be the best transfem eroticist who’s never written a full novel. When she finishes …

Like railgun brainworms? That's Halo but Halo is 90% classic milSF by volume so really who can say. The idea that archery is for frail people with little to no muscle? 100% DnD, Tolkien elves are likely buff as hell, if lithe and slender.

when it comes to milSF I'm far less interested and capable when it comes to the mil part

more doodles from last year from when dollgirl ERP turned into a cyberpunk milsf setting. Might go and render it some day

Our streamer AU continues! Madalithea faces her greatest challenge yet: moderating twitch chat full of shippers, foot fetishists, and War Thunder-style milsf nerds.

Meantime, Persephone prepares to unleash untold horror upon Olympus, her cruelest idea to date--a gacha game.

I will continue to get my audiobooks and I didn't cancel my National Geographic magazine. I still buy the American authors that I always buy (ebooks) - except MilSF authors get a tighter look now.

Beyond that? I'm not buying Florida oranges. I'm not buying WA apples. I'm not going to the US.
