5. Risk analysis and mitigation is not rooted in fear. It is rooted in the ability to understand the variables of a changed environment and adapt to them. That is to say, risk analysis and mitigation is based in facing reality head-on. This is a rare and valuable skill.

Maybe the reason many can't do risk analysis and mitigation is because of their COVID-induced cognitive damage ......

damage mitigation?

As someone working on the mitigation of impacts side: It is, and it will be, and it’ll probably continue to be, but there’s really only so much mitigation we *can* do within current political demands and organizational/funding structures.
I’m not sure I’d call ENSO chaotic on this timescale. It’s driven by well-understood physical feedback loops in the tropical Pacific, with predictable consequences worldwide. It’s our lack of action to mitigate the impacts that make everything dangerous and chaotic.
A chaotic climate phenomenon called El Nino is intensifying heavy rains and floods in the Southwest.

Wondering what tsunami risk reduction looks like in the United States? Check out the National Tsunami Hazard Mitigation Program; it funds state and territory tsunami programs across the nation.

Palm Bay, Brevard co, Fl. All those waste water mitigation projects that Desantis vetoed from the budget would probably have been helpful about now.

Such great investigation. This is going to sound made up but I was coincidentally reading the IPCC CCS report earlier today before this article came out and the stuff in there is just laughable

(browser history shot so you know I ain't fibbin)

Remember last week when Gemini responded that a "risk mitigation policy" was the reason it couldn't answer "Who won the 2020 election"?

Does the NYT have a similar "risk mitigation policy" that we don't know about, hence the differences in output re: Democrats v. Trump/GOP?

Colorado’s big wildlife overpass has cut animal collisions by 91%. Since the 61-metre-wide bridge, 5 underpasses & fencing opened last December, elk, bears and leopard frogs have used them, and pronghorn have crossed the interstate for the first time in decades. buff.ly/OfsyXHX

I recommend this great complimentary article to the one in Propublica with a wider focus and longer time span on IPCC-CCS development written by Fessoz in 2025.

As well as Covid mitigation, cardiovascular primary event risk reduction is a good idea. Also influenza acutely raises risk of cardiovascular events.

I get why "choose the lesser evil" feels logical

But the thing is, that's supposed to be a temporary mitigation in extraordinary circumstances, not a core part of your longterm strategy

And we've been forced to choose the lesser evil for DECADES now

also the way they talk to me personally like i’m a hermit and not a literal published photographer of nightlife prioritizing clean air and covid mitigation is just.. idk it tickles me. like gworls if you’re gonna insult me you gotta know who you’re talking to!
