A not insignificant portion of anti-AI stuff in the humanities is taking AI as a scapegoat for and a symbol of what was already lost before widespread AI. ‘The end of reading,’ ‘the end of thinking,’ ‘the end of human contact’ is actually just the end of modernism & its funding apparatus.

Every time I introduce postmodernism to my Am lit survey, I use the documentary *Helvetica* which does a great job not just talking about why some folks were all into modernism, and why people fell out of love, but also the corporate culture around modernism.
