This has happened already. Five hundred years of typography has been consolidated and financialised under Monotype and Adobe, and largely destroyed. It is a very substantial problem and why I celebrate independent typeface design as our only viable future.

After a bit of sleuthing, it appears to be Twentieth Century Bold, by Monotype. Or maybe Futura Round Bold. They're very similar

Type Nerds: can you identify this lettering used on Buffalo airport wayfinding signage? It feels familiarly like the Polish highway signage font, but I assume it isn’t, as that’s a bespoke in-house style. Futura-adjacent but not quite there… I like it, so I wanna know what it is!

研究で使われたのは Monotype Corsiva（カリグラフ書体）、Comic Sans Italicized（マンガ風）、Haettenshweiler（Impactみたいなやつ）。対照はHelveticaとArial。Comic Sansの教科書なんかヤダなあ。

Then I became an air traffic controller. It's much easier to read Gorton w/its monotype font on a radar display from a distance, if you're offset to the side (training someone) &/or in sunlight in a tower than the condensed fonts they use nowadays.

It is the 28 Oct 1958 & diners at the then railway owned Caledonian Hotel in Edinburgh were sitting down to this Dining Room menu. The design is very much in keeping with the BTC's use of Monotype ornaments & the Curwen Press who produced the majority of these cards.

British Transport Hotels : dining room menu from the Caledonian Hotel, Edinburgh : 28 October 1958 : Stiff card with a background of Monotype 'ornaments' to build a pattern, in a soft red with a single green ornament border, decorative title panels to top and bottom edges "Dining Room " and "Caledonian Hotel Edinburgh", with three plain edged rectangular panels for "House Dinner" at 10/6, :Le Diner Grand Choix" and "The Tourist Dinner: at 15/6. The British Transport Commission, whose remit included British Transport Hotels and Catering, were enthusiastic users of Monotype's decorative printers flowers and borders and much of their publicity made use of them. In the case of this menu card they certainly made a lot of use of them! The main card would have been a 'stock' template then overprinted with the daily menu choice. Happily I've been informed that this would be the work of one of the Curwen Press compositors, Bertie Elias Smith (1893 - 1984) - what work! The dining room menu for 28 October 1958 at the Caledonian Hotel, then adjacent to the working Princes Street Station in Edinburgh's West End, gives a choice from the House Dinner, the Tourists' Dinner or 'Le Diner Grand Choix'. The Caledonian Hotel, flagship of the Caledonian Railway in the capital is still with us, although it labours under some other title now. The railway hotels were an early target for sell off and privatisation from British Rail and the station itself was a victim of 1960s railway rationalisation when services were transferred to Edinburgh Waverley in 1965. The station was demolished by 1970 leaving the hotel, that had been constructed between 1899 and 1903, standing as a wing along Lothian Road.
