Moreton Corbet is a ruined country pile, formerly the home of the Corbet family, in north Shropshire. It fell into ruin in the 17th century and never recovered, leaving a very characterful ruin that is free to visit.

A relaxing visit to Moreton Corbet Castle today. A Norman earthwork castle (c1100) constructed by the Toret family, with later additions of stone keep (c1200), then curtain walls & gatehouse (13th century), then Elizabethan mansion (16th century).

Garrisoned in the English Civil war the castle was attacked on a couple of occasions, sustaining some damage which may have started the process of abandonment and decay.

The castle was originally called Moreton Toret, with the name changing when passed it into a branch of the Corbet family in 1235.
