19 Nov 1917 // HM Trawler Morococala, an Aberdeen boat in #RoyalNavy service as a minesweeper, ran over a mine while sweeping with other trawlers off Queenstown, Ireland. She exploded and sank with no survivors from her 12 crew. The mines had been laid by U-boat UC.31. #WW1 #NavalHistory

Vivianite's translucent bottle green colour isn't permanent. Over time, this mineral gradually oxidises and turns dark green, then opaque blue and finally opaque black. Read more about this process in the Mindat article below
