#morphologists
One of the highlights of a short trip to Yunnan last week – the Spot-breasted Parrotbill: an icon for functional morphologists, an insectivore with the 'wrong' beak (stubby like a seed-eater) which nonetheless makes ecophysical sense because it uses bite-force to snip through grass/bamboo stems

One interesting tweak to Montréal being a fake planned grid city is that the best conceptual framework for describing the morphogenesis of the city's layout is the one developed by Italian "processual typo-morphologists" to understand the built form of pre-modern Italian cities.

Calling scientists whose research falls under the big umbrella of vertebrate morphology: ISVM (and ICVM conferences) has a Bluesky account! Please follow, share, & it's a great account via which to follow other morphologists you might not yet follow!

Taking requests for songs to be sung by a crowd of morphologists at a Montreal karaoke bar.

We need a compound word to describe this👇🏽. I dunno, seems like a useful combination.

Can we have some German morphologists working on that please? Danke schön.
I need a benzodiazepine, a nap, some tea, a bath, and a weighted blanket all at once

And Fay 1920 is not terribly impressed.

In these days, I am again reminded that embryologists and functional morphologists have substantially different minds and viewpoints to confer an explanation of "how morphotraits evolutionarily change" to us.

Inclined to agree but distributed morphologists among others might beg to differ

I'm sure the geneticists and the morphologists would argue over it either way!

guys i think it's time to computational morphologists to stop being so fixated on morfessor

I def see your point. The traditional morphologists' perspective supports the sponge-sister hypothesis, and data matrices of morphological data analyzed under today's highfalutin statistical methods continue to support the sponge-sister hypothesis

One of the great vertebrate morphologists working, Dean talks about mineralization in giant placoid scales (bucklers) in cartilaginous fishes. Bucklers anchored by Sharpey's fibers and muscle. Denticles cusp looks normal, the base is very unusual.

My department at CSU Northridge is hiring a vertebrate functional morphologist! We've got a great EEB group, and we're looking for someone to carry forward a tradition of enriching organismal courses and community-engaged research. App review starts March 15
