A few plants that have leapt over the garden fence, seen in Oxfordshire villages this weekend - Straw Foxglove, Hungarian Mullein, Crown-vetch and Nettle-leaved Mullein all from Europe - and Seaside Daisy, a long way from California and Oregon!

#Silenecoronaria, the #rosecampion, is a species of flowering plant in the family #Caryophyllacee, native to Eurasia. Other common names include #dustymiller, #mullein-pink and #bloodyWilliam. These are so intense that it’s difficult to edit without it looking like ai generated it. #wildflowers

Did you know mullein stalks were once dipped in tallow for torches and used as lamp wicks?

For some moths, there is only one plant for them, while others aren't so picky. To help you choose what to grow, look up moths which might be around locally and find out what they eat.

Our short heat wave has receded, for awhile. A cloudy morning offered a nice walk and flower photos along the river loop. The Willamette, always lovely! And some wildflowers. Finally a decent chicory shot, with mullein in the background.
