It is now *canon* in Star Trek that First Contact happens because socialists believe so much in their responsibility to community, the future, and the mission of galactic quadrant collectivity that they take a capitalist project and make it something peaceful, hopeful, and multigeneration facing

He bragged about all his friends getting wealthier through stock market manipulation today and imaginary auto factories that'll create imaginary multigeneration jobs for families. That's the best you're gonna get.

I understand these multigeneration people born and raised in LA thinking they'd be fine during the fire and delaying an evac.

Tornado sirens went off and because the one closest to me didnt, I just chilled watching TV. It rained hard for a minute and when I went outside everything was fine+

In 2020 I watched a debate or something he was in, and when asked what multigeneration households were supposed to do about managing risk, he said "I think the pandemic really created multigenerational households."

No one is that dumb. Liar all the way.

Ah yes, Jews who don't want Israel wiped off the map, definitely doesn't describe any multigeneration New Yorkers.

Actually, it would also make a great multigeneration gift. Parent and two children, or grandparent and parent and child. They would all have something to remind them of the others.

Not for how they got into power, but for the resources to get them *out* of power. This will be a long, multigeneration slog back to democracy.

I do feel like a lot of the issues with modern, developed countries boil down to the loss of "household economics of scale" as stuff like urban economic concentration and technological improvements in mobility lead to less and less multigeneration, extended households.
A chipotle burrito is the perfect example -- a Mexican family 50 years ago would probably be having 4-5 dishes at every meal because there was a team of women feeding an extended family. In modern Italy, it's *fine* to have a veggie-and-sausage pasta.

Yep. Once you get that the suburban “American Dream” was a creation of racist developers, to make money, and then Madison Ave focused on that identity to sell shit, because there was a new huge mass of wealth to try to get their hands on, it’s clear.

We lived in multigeneration families before.
the simple truth conservatives always ignore

I think @maddow.msnbc.com is totally right about this, but Trump has broken the brains of a whole multigeneration cohort of pols & media types, so they totally can't grasp how incompetent he is.
He upset their apple cart & they're still trying to set it right.
Takes fresh eyes to see what's real.
"It’s all because he has no freaking idea how to deal with this politically, and he’s absolutely panicking about the...trenchant and joyful and sustainable opposition against him."

Maddow: Trump is ‘absolutely panicking’ and has no idea how to respond to LA protests
‘What we are seeing right now in California is a president panicking,’ Rachel Maddow said Monday

Traditionally Catholic (as opposed to tradcath) families in the US very much don't view multigeneration households to be some unfathomable alien thing.

Like, I'm pretty sure even the most atomized WASP families still have "grandma == free babysitter" stuff? But I know from Catholic families.

With Trump's gutting of the NIH, thousands of top people are suddenly out of a job and looking for a stable place to do science. Should Canada think about providing a safe haven and the expanded funding necessary to create an NIH North? Once in a multigeneration opportunity.
