In the first workshops, the participants of the MEC 2026 learned about music alignment algorithms and about music encoding with mei-friend. After a lunch break, there are now workshops about encoding music performances, interactive music encoding with Verovio and publishing of multimodal sources.

Previously, I could only play existing PS1 tracks from other games from .SEQ/.VAB/ADPCM files.
Making my own tracker format + properly encoding samples was incredibly complex, but I did it!

remember friends, backup your music library /before/ you go and try to do bulk metadata fixing and re-encoding and de-duplication....

im in an anime encoding server where the encoders frequently talk about how knowing the details behind encoding makes them enjoy both anime and encoding less and my only frame of reference for something analagous is music where learning how music gets made only makes me enjoy music more
