I love the red heels and toes. I'm not at this stage of naalbinding yet. Did you follow a pattern, make them up as you went along, etc?

Anyway, an outstanding episode by Anthony Atamanuik and Gil Ozeri. As the podcast develops, they're really trying a bunch of new ideas for their characters (is RFK Jr getting into naalbinding?) and it gets pretty wild.
@therealtony.bsky.social is probably heading home from his UCB show in NY today so he won't be able to post about the new episode of his #RFKJr comedy show #GoodSciencePodcast .
The last time he did a show on the future was #ThePresidentShow in 2018. He predicted Trump would refuse to leave office.

This is a great project worth backing - it's already funded almost to its fourth stretch goal.

Their previous book on Naalbinding (which you can also get as a reward) is fantastic and highly rated in reviews.

I don’t knit or crochet but I just saw my local craft store is offering class on naalbinding 🤔

...and about as complex as my naalbinding gets. ;-)

The one time I tried naalbinding, it drove me crazy. I decided to stick to other things.

This is especially fiddly since it has large open spaces, similar to netting. But yeah, even regular naalbinding challenges the patience, especially at first.

The beginning of a looped bag (the oldest form of naalbinding). It's fiddly. We'll see if I have the patience to finish it.

Giant naalbinding needle that I made from the handle of a bamboo toothbrush. This size will be great for making netted bags. I had a netted shopping bag years ago that I just loved, but it wore out. Time to replace it.

Yup. Life could absolutely be worse. Spending a beautiful, if blustery and overcast, lazy morning in Alissende's parlor naalbinding while she plays harp and the Queen Mum naps. <3 #MySCA

Wasn't getting gauge on the Eleonora stockings so need to start over; refigured the pattern, but haven't re-cast-on yet. Started a tank top in a gradient skein as an alternate project, but then *these* arrived, so now I'm stuck in decision paralysis. 🧶

Nothing, yet. Maybe finally learning naalbinding well enough to make socks for my own kit. :) These will take awhile to get done, so there's still time to find a next distraction, though.

She's phenomenal! And because so many museums can't tell the difference between naalbinding and knitting, she sometimes gets brought in to look at knits. I've been fortunate to get to geek out with her about similarities between naalbound and early knit sock construction.

Trying to get the knack of naalbinding (viking style knitting using a single needle) before I start on a hat.

Sharing this link for anyone interested in crafts. It shows the starting steps of naalbinding in detailed drawings that depict each individual step in the process to get going.

That way you can make your own pair of socks!

I have a friend who does naalbinding who wishes to ask if that uses the Coptic stitch.

Can’t wait to see how it turns out!

I’ve only ever managed crochet and naalbinding because apparently I am to stupid for more than one needle 🥲

Occasionally after getting dressed I realize an outfit consists entirely of handmade items I created for myself..

Bonus when the outfit also feels cute

It's a weird feeling to be an artist between mediums... like a slowly healing wound, it gets itchy over time.

In my 40 years I've dabbled in music, paint, drawing, 3D art, writing, beaded jewelry, sewing, crochet, naalbinding, knitting, historical costume...
hands need a new craft to learn.
