Nasubi, who excels in 428, was the subject of an infamous reality-TV livestream in 1998, as chronicled in The Contestant (2023). Ironically, the producer who put him through hell, Toshio Tsuchiya (土屋敏男), has the same name as a supporting character in Machi (different first-name kanji, though).

After watching the documentary about Susunu: Denpa Shonen, I am more convinced than ever that producer Tsuchiya should be in jail and Nasubi should’ve been given some kind of payment for enduring horrific psychological anguish.

I made myself sad watching The Contestant on hulu. It's a good watch, really insane what they do to Nasubi but it feels good to see the kind of person he is now despite the weird fucking torture they put him through for the same of TV.
