The endangered Rusty-patched Bumble Bee (Bombus affinis) on pollinator favorite Pycnanthemum virginianum (Virginia Mountain Mint). I manage to find these every year with help from a friend. My gardens are magnets for these things.

Bull Thistle

A top flower for pollinators, it may be seen as invasive by some gardeners. However, it helps bring balance and benefits while coexisting with garden plants. Take time to admire its wonders before jumping into a mindset of "I need to remove this weed". Maybe leave it!

I love sunchokes. Not only an easy tasty, high calorie and nutritious native plant but they really want to grow. I had dumped a few little scraps on some grass while cleaning last falls crop and they popped up this spring. Potted up and donated! #sunchokes #nativeflowers #foodgarden #victorygarden
A small piece of sunchoke tuber has a strong green shoot growing from it. Several roots can also be seen. It is resting on a pale pink hand and both it and the hand have a light covering of soil.
