Band at this Irish fest just busted out The SAM Song, which is a step or two up from Come Out Ye Black and Tans for rebel music. The Natterjacks from Philly for reference.

'let me forget the ever dulling shine of hope,
let me rely instead upon expectation.'
-Rachel Deering

Another beautiful and mesmerising poem by the wonderful @racheldeering.bsky.social. This time inspired by the folklore of pretty natterjacks. 💚👇

Spring nights on the dunes come alive with sound 🎶🐸

This is the call of the natterjack toad, one of the UK’s rarest amphibians.

Natterjacks depend on warm, shallow pools on coastal dunes and sandy heaths. A rare sound, from a fragile habitat, & one well worth protecting.

Out herping on the Sefton Coast yesterday evening with Mike Brown ...primarily licensed surveying for Natterjacks, but we were lucky enough to find this stonking male Sand Lizard basking in the last rays of sunlight 😍

Toads to mythic amphibians in @palimpsest22.bsky.social’s stunning take on #PoetryTheme #AMPHIBIAN The seeming smugness of the natterjacks gives way to sleekness of legendary water dwellers but with the twist that in their unbeholden state they are, as the title suggests, liberated modern women 👏👏👏

I used to help manage habitat for natterjacks at Gronant Dunes during my tenure as ranger for the Haven park there. Was brilliantly rewarding work.

Remind me, what was the name of the tall guy who managed Natterjacks across from where Tower used to be? He ended up in a band with a mate of mine, Ludo. I'd often see the Natterjacks guy on the 213 sat at the back, playing a didgeridoo. (Not a euphemism). All very Superhans behaviour.

Zine of the Week!
Left these in a nearly empty Little Free Library the other day. The only thing ever in there is Christian propaganda cards & "comics", no books.
