MNSD016.08 - "nothing was done with the meat except to bury it"

#HorrorSynth stylings of @rmblrx.mooonside.com

Patched and performed on a #microKORG DSP analog modeling polyphonic #synthesizer and a #NerdSEQ hybrid tracker/sequencer, all captured in glorious ATRAC3 on an MDS-JE480 #MiniDisc deck.

This followup was recorded in the same fashion but sequencing the microkorg's two filters with the NerdSEQ, rather than knob-turning.

A #DMG01 controlled with a #NerdSEQ feeding #MIDI to the #Gameboy over an #ArduinoBoy. The DMG's two outputs were fed to a MIDI-controlled #microKORG functioning as a two channel filter with effects. All captured on #MiniDisc, ripped to PCM, and mastered to stereo in Bitwig.

The NerdSeq is working out in the new rig. I just need to find room for the 16 trigger module.

I tried reaper I don't know how long ago and it wouldn't loop right, so I stuck with tracktion until an evolution control committee show convinced me to use ableton
now I'm curious about tracktion and renoise, and if renoise would also apply to hardware trackers like the nerdseq

Of course, I have to get my sequencing elsewhere. While obviously LSDJ could be used and have done with it, MIDI has been my preference of late. Also I just happened upon, in my case, a very convenient implementation of ORCA (below), though I'll likely end up predominantly using the NerdSEQ.

The NerdSeq has 2 sample output tracks, each track can be loaded with 12 individual samples and they can be modulated. The only limitation I’ve experienced is that the file size of the samples need to be really small, otherwise we will run out of memory space quickly

Turns out I love the nerdseq and using a custom keyboard with it is just a joy

The core sequencer in this patch is the Euclidean Circles going into IDUM to be mangled up before going into the voices. A random cv resets the Euclidean Circles once in a while to break the predictable pattern. Simultaneously, Marbles is generating some wild rhythms in sync. Meanwhile, NerdSeq is…

Yes, NerdSeq is the master sequencer, assisted by Marbles and Euclidean Circles for the rhythm sections 🤓

My skills as a producer, though incomplete and burnt tf out, remain.

Bc I poured my misery into Nerdseq and LSDj even during artistic droughts, I've no product, but, I can press play on a single iteration of sav file and know that I did it using stupid tricks I learned from cool people and grit

I have built a dedicated nerdseq keyboard out of a Planck and it turned out it was an extremely good idea.
