I was on a hosted server but apparently my netblock neighbors did not play nicely and eventually I got tired of my father telling me "your email is down"

I see you using NordVPN to try to hide your IP address to -try- to attack my client's stuff.

*sends all traffic for the entire netblock to /dev/null/*

Keep it up. It's fun.

While their DDoS attempts didn't cause even a slowdown to the service it gave me the opportunity to test out a second step to the nginx bucket rate limit protection: An automatic system will now upgrade first single IPs and on systemic netblock misuse also whole /24s to being blackholed in the […]

the ddos spam stuff has gone after datacrystal now, and (since it's a much smaller serveR) it was more or less constantly down.

applied some of the same things as tcrf and it is back to normal.

love it when most of the abuse is coming from Microsoft's netblock :')

Updates to Doll Set 7 and Doll Set 11, better-dressed for cool and cold weather, with changes to scarves and trousers. pixiereport.com/sets .

Scraping from a netblock I wasn't expecting to have to block . Image previews are OK, scraping knocks the site over. A #DDoSaaS, as some say.

Twitter can be turned off by a country's government blocking Twitter's entire netblock.

Does Bluesky's federated model make government censorship more challenging?

Thought experiment: If you were the government of Turkey, how would you censor the entire Bluesky federation?

...nothing like throwing a few /12 netblock IP bans in your web server config because some asshole on alibaba's network is scraping your git server at a rate that's running it into the ground. fuck these (probably) GenAI-feeding shitheads…

Just learnt how to cross-compile a netblock consolidation rust program from Mac to Linux, so I can run it on my server and reduce Amazon’s published list of 10,235 IPv4 ranges down to 1,745. Or Tencent (AS132203)’s 34,703 down to... 44. It’s like they want to slow down my firewall reload 👀

Oh joy... found a new Chinese owned netblock (10.47.47.0/24) out of SG abusing the internet by scraping while pretending to not be a scraper. Bye bye, BytePlus (owned by ByteDance, whose bots were already on everybody's bad bot lists) BytePlus seems to evade Anubis as well @techaro.lol

I tried an AI assistant today. I asked the agent to reformat a list of IPs and to resolve the netblock owner. Everything looked great. Then I double checked the answers. About 20% were delusions

But hey, "Tier-1" *and* I did get my new netblock, even if the Tech Support guy was a bit confused on some of the finer points of networking. 🧐

Just noticed a UK business front for a bulletproof hosting provider located elsewhere.. business name is Umanaged… so all of the netblock whois data just shows mnt-by: UNMANAGED 🤣😂🤣 (abuseipdb shows 253 ip’s out of the /24 reported for bad behaviour…)

I mean, they have a netblock from ARIN, and are setting up multiple PoPs. So… not out of the realm of possibilities (except for cost and additional operational overhead ofc lol).

Oh hey, hit by this again and finding they've made a small concession, but IP-based geoblocking is still dumb as hell when we've known forever that the two don't align (especially as the internet is provided by fewer and fewer companies and netblock location declarations consolidate).
We have reconsidered our approach and agree that we were too conservative in how we rolled out age assurance in Texas. You should have access via the web.

They're probably looking up the name and then looking up and checking all addresses for it. Contaminated IP address space is a big problem, but there's little you can do about it except gripe at your ISP for not checking before buying the netblock...

Feedly flags an #IP in a threat report.

@censys.bsky.social tells you about the host record, when the IP was last scanned, which ports and services answered, who owns the #netblock, and which other hosts share its certificates.

But since I'd rather code than complain, I updated graymilter to handle netblocks - sort of. It already had a way to specify a list of addresses and netblocks to always allow. I changed that to handle multiple lists, and used it to deal with the netblock […]

I use exim and likewise have few problems. Occasionally get put on a list somewhere purely on
the basis of my netblock, even though I have reverse DNS set up properly. I've never set up DMARC, but I probably should

I am dying to find out if they planned to keep Lemon8 operating (otherwise why spend so much effort getting influencers to push tiktok users to it) but it had a dependency on some database inside tiktok and Oracle et al just yanked BGP for the whole netblock.

What's funny is that this was, of course, Tier-1 Tech Support ("Is your router plugged in? Are any of the lights on?"), and this really nice guy, who was supposed to be helping to convey to me what my new netblock is, apparently does not know:
