Perhaps more of us should be talking about the disproportionate amount of Long Covid in the queer/trans population being very likely from the same reasons autism/neurocomplexity and other chronic conditions are disproportionately represented in the queer/trans population!

Actually, for me, the most useful language framework is Lindsey Mackereth’s neurocomplexity model that includes former gifted kids, high masking, chronic illness, gender nonconformity and queerness into the biopsychosocial model. This feels very whole person true for me.

decades long severe burnout, I’m realizing, was/is as big of a factor as long COVID was/is in my complete collapse. the more illness is managed enough to have some quality of life, the more disabled I realize I am by neurocomplexity.

Something interesting I’ve learned from Lindsey Mackereth a local therapist who does a lot of public thinking around neurocomplexity: her theory of neurodivergence includes the idea of “existential depression” that doesn’t respond to normal depression treatment bc it’s not actually major depression.

Yeah, most of my followers were from the one dumb video I had. But I had some really good community over there in a few areas like neurocomplexity, research and social academics, plurals, disability, trans communities, etc lthat we just can't easily rebuild other places.

All of this is the *exact* lifespan model that Mackereth (and probably others I should know about) lays out. When I encountered these posts on IG it was like a lens finally focused.
