Only 1 in 5 neurosurgeries gets monitored for nerve damage. Nervio's AIM wants to fix the math with AI.

It seems so, next to nothing left now to 2008. Then not easy when you try top any up private either. Most private just seem to want live in care. It's holding my neurosurgeries up by 2 yrs now :( unpaid carers joys 🙄 🫤

I have seen patients (many younger than me) die before they could get neurosurgeries for these conditions

Patients never got to go to high school or college, get a job or career, date or have a family

Patients abandoned by many clinicians and government support systems

It’s wild for anyone to challenge my using “lifesaving” to describe neurosurgeries I was approved to get, when for years I have shared my *life-endangering and very disabling symptoms and tests results* that *qualified me for surgery* to the public for education and awareness 🧵

worsen. Prior peripheral neurosurgeries cut sensory branches. The hope was by grafting, use of affected muscles/tendons would improve. Most felt too risky. When initially diagnosed, in 20’s and an athlete. Ortho considers permanent. If now required surgery would be in response to an issue which

He’s not. I and several other patients, clinicians and others have examined these cases. There are good reasons why many cases weren’t successful. One patient expected neurosurgery to cure POTS. Another, neurogenic bladder. Neurosurgeries aren’t for those conditions, nor are they cures.
June 10, 2026 at 10:57 PM
Alan Levinovitz implied these are neurosurgeries for EDS, long Covid and MECFS even after myself and others told him this is incorrect, these are conditions that impact/are impacted by *brain and spine conditions* which is what the neurosurgeries treat

Please retract and drop this bad actor
June 10, 2026 at 7:38 PM
The longer patients develop and struggle with secondary issues to the brain/spine diagnoses, many of us have to accept that those secondary conditions will likely exist following neurosurgeries. There’s a good chance we need primary treatment for secondary conditions after surgery.
June 7, 2026 at 9:26 PM
I’ve seen patients expect neurosurgeries to cure dysautonomia or neurogenic bladder or other secondary impacts, which is just not how any surgery works. I’ve seen folks not read clinical notes to see all their diagnoses, conflate one DX with another, say a test/surgery for X is for Y when it’s not.
June 7, 2026 at 7:15 PM
Just the fact that he called these neurosurgeries “for EDS/MECFS” when neurosurgeries are not direct treatments for either, and only direct treatments for neurosurgical conditions themselves that occur in these patient populations —

Shows how profoundly he misrepresents, clinicians and patients
June 7, 2026 at 1:50 AM
You are welcome to make your own choices. What is not OK is for people to misrepresent patient cases, call these neurosurgeries “dangerous” and slander neurosurgeons as “exploitative” to stigmatize patient who need this care and clinicians from providing it.
June 7, 2026 at 1:48 AM
Meanwhile, this fucking ghoul, skeptical about necessary neurosurgeries for a severely underserved patient population being a "miracle," wants me to do nothing more than cure my visibly fucked up, jangly bones with nothing more than the power of magical thinking that I can pay him for. Get fucked!
June 5, 2026 at 1:57 PM
He’s now going after EDS and mast cell patients (again, he had run-ins decades ago with celiac and mast cell food intolerance folks over his “gluten allergies are fake” book)

Particularly EDS/MECFS patients needing neurosurgeries, and he’s spreading misinfo about patients and clinicians online
June 5, 2026 at 7:51 AM
Alan just indicated on Twitter that he is critical of EDS/MECFS patients who may need to get neurosurgeries, so be aware

He is calling neurosurgeons who provide surgeries exploitative and labeling the surgeries as dangerous

He has not engaged with any expert sources on this stuff either

that he'd successfully performed neurosurgeries lasting many hours, concluding, "You don't have to be loud to be high energy." Trump never again tried to criticize Carson.

I didn’t have the energy to make #MEAwarenessDay or #EDSAwarenessMonth posts or celebrate my birthday, I was so crashed out this past month

Please consider this my awareness post! There’s a chance I can get out of #SevereME for good if more donations help me get neurosurgeries
Neurosurgery update! Please read, donate, share

Good news: I’m approved for 2 more major lifesaving surgeries

Bad news: There’s more physical damage, surgeries are costly & not covered in full by Medicare, I need more donations for this lifesaving care

Few people know that some #neurosurgeries are performed while the patient is awake — speaking, remembering, even answering questions during the operation.

I wrote a simple guide to understand how this extraordinary specialty really works:

Sorry to hear that, Diamond. I don't know why people rave about our hospital system, I think it's quite poor. Last year I had 2 neurosurgeries & the second hospital, a large teaching hospital, put that I was an outpatient of the dermatology clinic on my wristband & discharge papers! 🤔 When they.../2

Emily Johnson's neurologic and neuromuscular symptoms are getting worse. At times, @emilyrj.bsky.social is barely able to communicate.

In year 4 of interstate travel for multiple neurosurgeries, her goal is staying alive and getting out of palliative care.

If you can help, it would mean a lot. 🙏🏼
Emily Johnson is such a smart and interesting person. But, she has been felled by severe chronic illness. Next week she'll consult with NYC neurosurgeons hoping to find ways to treat her scary symptoms.

Travel expenses for Emily and a caregiver are very high. Anything you can give would be a boon.
My postponed February neurosurgery trip is next week!

I’ve had worsening neurology and movement disorder symptoms (typically associated with strokes) due to IH/Chiari, local neurology now helping far-away experts

Please give if you can! Thank you www.gofundme.com/f/help-emily...

A5. Many years ago I was fortunate enough to share time with a young aspiring Zoo Keeper while we waited for our respective neurosurgeries. His was a terminal brain tumour but he simply talked to me about his dream job and never complained. He taught me so much about having life goals. #DigiBlogChat

I’ve been in Palliative Care for 7 years, getting neurosurgeries for 3, and every hospital visit has staff (many with Covid symptoms) not masking and spreading infections to patients (some of whom were clearly admitted with severe pulmonary and vascular issues, so masks shouldn’t been required)
