Shown is a Pre-Columbian jade or greenstone "axe-god" (celt) pendant from Costa Rica, typically dated around 300 to 800 CE. Carved from a polished green mineral (such as jadeite or serpentine), these artifacts are commonly associated with the ancient cultures of the Greater Nicoya or Atlantic Watershed regions of Costa Rica. The celt is fashioned into an anthropomorphic or avian-human hybrid figure, featuring a stylized downturned beak-like or triangular face, a notched ceremonial headdress, and diminutive arms folded across the chest. Functioning as high-status pendants or amulets, these "axe gods" were often worn by shamans or elites, symbolizing transformation, spiritual power, and agricultural or ancestral fertility
