I saw that King’s “The Institute” has been made into a series. I’ve watched the first 2 episodes, and it seems like so far they are MOSTLY keeping true to the book, but a little concerned about the nightknocker being in the town near the institute, and not in SC like in the book

I just checked the Websters and Oxford dictionaries online and neither of them list it (as nightknocker or night knocker), which indicates to me it's not a historical term.
