Just off Ninenzaka (二年坂), the historic route that winds from Kōdai-ji all the way up to Kiyomizu-dera, you will find our Flower Teahouse, Flower Annex, and kimono studio.

Our east Kyōto location is easily accessible from the city centre (a 15 minute walk through Gion).
Nao-san in kimono on Ninenzaka at dusk. Yasaka Pagoda, a famous Kyoto landmark visible from behind our teahouses. Ichinenzaka, Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka are three (increasingly steep) slopes along one route that winds from Kodai-ji all the way to Kiyomizu-dera. Atsuko-san and Nao-san climb to the Nio-mon of Kiyomizu-dera.

i am still laughing about "Caricature Japan Kiyomizu Ninenzaka Store" which is a caricature place i walked by in kyoto and where i took this photo of two people happily posing with one of the cruellest caricatures i've ever seen

The streets around Kiyomizu-dera, Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka are gorgeous, lined with lovely shops and small cafes, and crazy crowded.

Astonishingly, the temple recorded 234 attempts!

Although the stage is 13m high, the survival rate amongst jumpers was a good 85% (landings cushioned by bushes and the gradient of the hillside).
Jumping is now prohibited, so please don't try😉
