Yeah it's pretty standard on penetration tests on scada/ICS to be asked not to run nmap because the last pentester who ran nmap crashed the factory robots or whatever

Our test Ubuntu server scored 59/100 on Lynis. Then OpenSCAP, ssh-audit, Nmap, Nikto, AIDE and ClamAV found the rest, including a forgotten dev server and a planted SSH key. All free.

Additionally, the claim that the LG TVs do nmap style scans of the network were also unsubstantiated. The TV does mdns and service discovery scans, but it doesn't aggressively scan individual devices based on what I've seen.
