JPM DESK: “.. Futs are down sharply as US / Iran war expands and escalates (attack on US embassy in Saudi
Arabia; uncertainty over status of Strait of Hormuz; targeting non-military infra / businesses) the magnitude of the reaction is aligned with what some investors anticipated yesterday.”

I understand that humans thinking about math is Luddite behavior and humans making art is Luddite behavior and so on. But I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be doing instead. What's the non-Luddite behavior for those of us who aren't wealthy investors?

This would lift the substantial restrictions on the token (non-US or accredited investors only, locked tokens with no secondary sales) that were aimed at sidestepping attention from the previous SEC, and could be enormously lucrative for Trump.

I still don't know anything about Audra Winter but when I see stuff like this, which is apparently "I want investors to spend $70,000 so I can invent the light novel, a thing that already exists" I'm just a bit in awe.

Imagine what any of us non-grifting indie authors could do with $70k.
Audra Winter is asking Angel Investors to invest $70k in an indie book because she "totes invented an adult picture book."

My sister in Christ? I read a manga adaptation of Hamlet last year. You ain't special.

These charts, from the Financial Times, are sure to fuel what is already a heated debate about the valuation of US stocks — both in absolute terms and relative to bonds and non-US stocks.

More to follow.

If you’re relieved that Trump’s toxic tariff-tax has been “disappeared” like our innocent non-citizens, here’s a WaPo chart showing the tariff-tax is still here.

After a brief rebound, markets continued DOWN, because investors know that Trump will cause a recession.

Tariffs are taxes on us.
Very informative chart from Washington Post

FT: “.. Among several valuation measures setting record highs is .. the ratio of the market capitalisation of US non-financial companies to ‘gross value added’ .. this metric has rivalled and now exceeds the peaks of both 1929 and 2000.”

Should add that if the $ is not a one-way bet in a risk off market then it has declining “moneyness” value to non-US investors etc etc

For us non-econ folks, can you flesh this out a bit? What does it mean / likely signify? What do investors need to key in on?

Except for the fact pricing are rising quickly and jobs are non-existent. And foreign investors are running from the nutty US after the chaining up foreigners in the GA plant fiasco. The economy is tanking and everyone knows it.

If the get the US--as in the country, through the Federal Gov't--to buy crypto, that's 340 million (non-consensual, forced, impressed into suckeritude) suckers right there.

It's akin to the dream brokers have of forcing millions to become market investors by privatizing Social Security.

The contours of the AI debate are so odd.
Doomers: AI is powerful, will kill us all
Futurists: AI is powerful, will lead to paradise
Non-believers: genAI isn't AI and this is all hype
Investors: I don't want to miss out on the gravy train
And futurists pretend to be doomers to attract investors.
