#noncombatants
Right on time to manipulate the markets, along with a threat to commit war crimes and terrorize civilians and noncombatants.

Ordering the extrajudicial killing of noncombatants in international waters is an unlawful order. Fulls top.

are uniformed band members noncombatants, the dumbest thread in the history of forums

"Uniformed members of a military on a warship are noncombatants actually"
What's your angle here? Sinking a ship coming back from a training exercise full of non-combatants thousands of miles from a combat zone then not rescuing any of the survivors eliscits a HAHAAHAHAHAHAHA response from you when comparing the actions to nazis?

In other words, noncombatants have been dying not because of any need to accomplish any military objective, but dying to preserve (criminal defendant) Bibi’s hold on power.

NEW: Ten members of Congress have warned the secretary of defense that the Trump administration’s gutting of a program focused on shielding noncombatants puts service members in peril, erodes the military’s moral standing and may violate federal law.

So the US creates conditions that endanger American noncombatants in the area but doesn't bother to plan for evacuating those noncombatants.
Again, Americans are not “choosing” not to depart at the time. The airspace is closed.

anyway it’s shocking that no one was able to predict that when the George W. Bush administration gave itself unreviewable powers to murder and imprison people, those powers were eventually going to get used intentionally on noncombatants

It’s a tacit admission of a war crime. They targeted a building knowing that noncombatants would be present.

“Battlefield immunity”? Not sure that’s really a thing. There’s no battlefield immunity for murdering noncombatants. That would be new.

the point where you can no longer trust a government with the basic function of allowing your aid to reach noncombatants is the point where you can no longer justify sending that government anything else

They are lying about INFLATION.
They are lying about JOBS.
They are lying about LAYOFFS.
They are lying about HIRING.
They are lying about FOREIGN INVESTMENT.
They are lying about DEPORTATIONS.
They are lying about KILLING NONCOMBATANTS.
They are lying about EVERYTHING.

Also recognize that this unambiguous use of the military to commit murder of helpless noncombatants as they fought for life is a direct reflection of the virulent white supremacy that has seized our government, where every Latino man is a gangbanger in a de facto state of war against White America

Even the US Army's official history portrays Wounded Knee as a massacre in which "soldiers also employed artillery despite the presence of numerous noncombatants... including women and children..."

Tucker Carlson: “Killing noncombatants, people who did nothing wrong, who didn't choose this war, who were just people created by God. That is immoral. That will never be moral. That can never be justified.”

New per WaPo: US forces killed 153 civilians and wounded nearly 250 others last year in three attacks targeting suspected militants in Yemen, according to a Pentagon review that found significant harm to noncombatants who were not in any conflict.

The most important principle in the law of armed conflict is that of distinction: a combatant must make distinguish between combatants and noncombatants, and make efforts to minimize damage and suffering inflicted on noncombatants.

Pawning that task off on a robot is per se a war crime.

Damn, hell of a lot of starving children and noncombatants for a non-genocide.

We talk of refusing unlawful orders, but really that's a very high bar. It's only for orders that are manifestly unlawful, something *obviously* illegal on the face of it. And the core example of that is refusing an order to wantonly murder noncombatants, which is exactly what they are doing.
Oddly enough, in media coverage of Dems' video warning against carrying out illegal orders, there's very little discussion of *whether it's actually reasonable to fear Trump is giving illegal commands or not.*

The evidence is strong that he is. Media should say so:

I mean, sure, but contra Bryan Clark I do not think blowing up larger amounts of sand and $5 commercial radar sets next to noncombatants is going to be any more effective than blowing up a smaller amount of sand amd $5 commercial radar sets that aren't next to noncombatants

We know, with 100% certainty, that drone warfare kills noncombatants. We should not be ok with it.

Let us know if you're able to reconcile hating Trump's illegal war(s) and being proud of Israel's illegal slaughter of tens of thousands of civilian noncombatants, some of us would like to know how that works.

grimly funny that so many people who "support" the deaths of noncombatants based on skimming the Wikipedia entry on Fanon twist themselves into pretzels trying to demonstrate tha the noncombatants whose deaths they "support" are actually combatants

"Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war" wasn't "havoc" in just the modern sense of chaos, it was a particular order that was understood as heinous even in Shakespeare's day, authorization after battle was over to slaughter and pillage, both debilitated enemies and noncombatants, without restraint.
