As we recall the 20 year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, and while far less horrific than the human devastation, New Orleans’ 24 red streetcars serving the Canal & Riverfront lines were substantially damaged by the storm, all built & rebuilt in-house by NORTA staff.

5) Buses! NORTA needs funding for better frequencies, because headways like every 80 minutes for the Airport Express and every 45 minutes on trunk lines in the city are just difficult. And JPT’s network looks really weird because *county boundaries don’t match urban development boundaries*

Unlike Baton Rouge, NOUPT is already an intermodal passenger facility, with Amtrak, Greyhound/Flix and NORTA all serving the station opened in 1954 (refurbished in 2005). In the 2nd photo, Amtrak counter is to the right and Greyhound/Flix to the left. There’s an arrivals listing but no departures.
