The reason that NotProton does not support things that are not CrossOver is that things like 'Highball' do not contribute to the Wine Project. They don't contribute code. CodeWeavers does (and no one contributes more patches to the Wine Project than CodeWeavers) so NotProton was carefully and purposefully designed to support that. I am tired of a different viber popping up every other day with a fork that violates my clearly stated intent. There is a difference between having a right to do something and that thing being good or desired. Substituting your Claude subscription for my careful ethical judgement and desire to protect the Wine Project is not a constructive way to interact with free software. Free as in speech, not beer. Free as in freedom (responsibility). I welcome forks that do anything other than add trial support/skip the license check or add support for non-CrossOver runners. Please delete this project. It harms the Wine Project. Instead of being the nine billionth person to fork NotProton to support parasitic Wine forks, why don't you do something useful? Donate the money you are spending on inference to the Wine Project.

NotProton is fantastic - it allows Mac users to run Windows games from native MacOS Steam, without futzing with Crossover bottles. It uses Crossover internally but makes it totally transparent - just like Proton on Linux.

With the introduction of winetricks in NotProton version 1.1.8, I can run every Windows Steam game directly from Steam that I have ever gotten working in CrossOver. (Decisive Campaigns and Shadow Empire need winetricks, Soulash 2 needed some OpenGL DLLs copied to a weird place).

TIL: CrossOver Preview (FEX Edition) contains both FEX and Rosetta, so if you are choosing which CrossOver Preview to install, you should go for that one (it has `-arm64-` in the filename on the downloads page).
