Mid-noughties. Cher successfully claimed it infringed her trademark. Absolute scenes.

I actually remember in the noughties the Guardian being in a bidding war for a collection of his notes and doodles. The poet of our generation ladies and gentlemen

On the plus side: we're returning to that blissed-out period in the noughties when a £ was worth two $ and we could holiday like kings in the US. On the down side: We can't actually go to the US because they'll arrest us.
Breaking: The US dollar has suffered its worst first half of the year since 1973, as Donald Trump’s trade and economic policies prompt global investors to rethink their exposure to the world’s dominant currency. https://on.ft.com/4ev1ux1

Just watched Children of Men for the first time, which had been on my list for ages

Can you believe it's nearly 20 years old (2006), which is surely a mistake as the Noughties were only a few years ago

Anyway, excellent stuff

By the noughties, every phone was a "Nokia" even if it wasn't a Nokia.

Mid-noughties MLE? “I am complaining on the telephone” Oxford Voice? Weird Mockney? BBC English?

Remembering all the Koreans who protested against the import of American beef in the Noughties for sanitation reasons and all the American expats who straight up told us we were crazy 💜
Because in the United States, it’s legal to feed chicken shit to cattle.

That’s why. That’s literally the reason

And not forgetting the now overt racism, misogyny and kleptocracy. Used to be more coded back in the noughties

I'm clearing out my purse & I found this! My National Rail Photocard from the late Nineties/early Noughties. Can't remember. Look how thin my eyebrows are 😭

I’ve never seen the original Lilo & Stitch before - it’s an absolutely bonkers premise for a Disney kids movie! Honestly, what were they smoking in the early noughties?!

In the late noughties the Netherlands had a national campaign to get kids to wear seatbelts and the mascot for the campaign was an armadillo. This was because the most common Dutch word for an armadillo, gordeldier, means "belt animal"

A mix of Motown classics and noughties indie vibes?

Of course it's Freddie who's doing the music for the wedding.

In a terrible mix-up that lands Alan in the bishop's bad books, the music for Carol's funeral consists of Silk Chiffon and Pink Pony Club; while at the wedding Pip goes up in a blaze to Fire Leap from "The Wicker Man".

Somewhat surprisingly, the respective congregations approve.
