ntdo should seriously reconsider whatever policy they have on what text needs to be on the front of a game box, bc if it's got a wall of text on there my primary instinctual assumption is that it's Something Bad. the text specifies it's a game that works on both NS1 & NS2 but it doesnt LOOK like one
Harvest Moon: Echoes of Teradea gets Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 release date https://nintendoeverything.com/harvest-moon-echoes-of-teradea-gets-nintendo-switch-and-switch-2-release-date/

i think this direct was so heavily mistimed. felt like basically everything in it is only dropping in at least 5 months from now
like they couldve made it a 10min mario anniversary announcement instead, and for all the games we already knew about, they could just drop release dates on ntdo today

not a lot of cool nintendo direct announcements means i can continue having fun catching up with gaming history on my ps3👍

in those "ask the developer" articles they mentioned how theyre aware ppl would basically go "wheres nintendos creativity why is there no console gimmick nintendo is DOOMED" but basically the power of the hardware IS the gimmick that enables all these things that have been unthinkable for ntdo games

imo the Switch marked a shift in how ntdo games feel as part of a series history
pre-Switch, if you had 1-2 series entries on a system, it's like nintendo would metaphorically laugh in ur face for wanting old unavailable games bc "you already have [series] on [console]" as if theyre interchangeable

it’s clear that ntdo want to turn switch into a steam-like platform where ideally you could play any game, but imo the #1 thing holding it back is when rereleases get botched in some way (no og OST in rayman, pikmin 2 dialogue & textures, etc) & that’ll be the only version of a game we get on switch

Some of you lot’s complaints about #NintendoSwitch2 are ridiculous.
Because it looks similar to the Switch 1? Really?
So you wanted a Switch to not look like a switch?
It’s ok to have x5 PlayStations in a row but Ntdo do a numbered sequel once & it’s an issue?
GAMES people. Gameplay is king 👑

on your “what can you do from here” point, I think Ntdo is doing exactly that w/ NS2 already
NS1 made an irreversible leap by bridging a gap btwn home console & handheld
NS2 bridges gap w/ PC; completing Switch’s goal of being a platform for all games, incl games that don’t work well on controller

for the switch successor, ntdo should make a budget version thats the opposite of the switch lite: docked-only instead of handheld-only. the console gets integrated into the dock
this would allow it to
- lack a battery, screen & touch
- probably support external storage devices way more easily too!
