weirder is when it's a different company (sort of a bad example bc they're both technically ntdo but this is the one i think about most often) like the sound effects between wario land shake it, the yoshi crafted/wolly games and kirby's epic yarn

they *are* still making new stuff! just takes longer these days & these ntdo remakes are (mostly/as far as we know) done by different teams
they help fill these gaps caused by longer dev times & at the same time bring old games (that ppl would ignore in their NSO library otherwise) to new audiences

The option I could think of for mouse use implementation in KF-likes is to have a crosshair on the screen, and the player has to move the crosshair to the edges of the screen as the chara turns the same amount of speed as keyboard/controller only players. Kinda like Ultima Underworld or Ntdo DS FPS.

if they want to appeal to a more casual market getting the game on the switch 2 was for sure a step in the right direction (albeit a confusing one imo. I associate ntdo with gimmick consoles rather than powerful ones. BUT xiv has console experience so it's far less odd than a mobile release)

I think this is also the biggest reason why ntdo would want to remake all N64 games: if they’re only good to play on an N64 controller, that’s bad for the switch’s idea of letting you play in many different ways (particularly handheld, but also multiplayer!). They want them playable on switch *well*

N64 is in kind of a uniquely bad spot
- least marketable graphics of any ntdo system, so they can’t just port games like GC/wii
- controls are bad (hard to replicate) on anything that isnt the original controller
so i get if ntdo’s remakes focus on just making N64 games more playable on modern hw

ntdo should seriously reconsider whatever policy they have on what text needs to be on the front of a game box, bc if it's got a wall of text on there my primary instinctual assumption is that it's Something Bad. the text specifies it's a game that works on both NS1 & NS2 but it doesnt LOOK like one

it’s clear that ntdo want to turn switch into a steam-like platform where ideally you could play any game, but imo the #1 thing holding it back is when rereleases get botched in some way (no og OST in rayman, pikmin 2 dialogue & textures, etc) & that’ll be the only version of a game we get on switch

ngl ntdo games are the only games that get my $70 bc they've consistently delivered what i expect which can't be said for a bunch of other games i've bought at full price lol
unless i'm already /deeply/ invested in a series i'm not forking over full price anymore tbh
